12th December 2018-SGA Development Squad members, Sean Lee and Inez Ng came out tops in their respective divisions in the HSBC Youth Golf Challenge 2018, 2nd Leg held at Warren Golf & Country Club this week.
Sean Lee shot a commanding two-under 69 in the Boy’s A Division to upstage fellow Development Squad member Andre Chong, who shot the best tournament score of three-under 68 on the last round, by three strokes. Coming into the final round, Sean lead the field by just a single stroke to Justin Kuk, another SGA Development Squad member. The final round was a tightly contested affair with five players within four strokes or less of the leader. In the mix was Brandon Han, the winner of the 1st Leg of the HSBC Youth Golf Challenge which was held at Keppel Club.
Sean birdied the par 3 seventh and followed it with an eagle on the par 5 eighth. Andre Chong put up a great fight but a bogey on the fifteenth and the eighteenth swallowed up any chances he had of a comeback victory; ultimately handing the win to Sean.
In the Girl’s A Division, SGA Development Squad member Inez Ng managed to hold off teammate Shayne Lim and claim top prize in this leg. Inez carded an 81 in the final round for a three day total 224 and lead Shayne by three strokes.
In the Boy’s B Division, Daryl Low from the SGA Junior Squad showed why he is a force for the future by carding a sparkling two-under 69 in the final round to win by a single stroke over Jake Foley. Jake was leading by a single stroke over another SGA Junior Squad member, Ng Wei Jun, while Daryl sit five strokes back from the top at the start of the final round. Daryl showed grit and determination in his play with birdies on four holes in the back-nine to beat Jake by a single stroke and record his first wire to wire victory.
In the Girls B’ Division, SGA Development Squad member, Angel Lim recorded a two-under 70 for her runaway victory by fourteen strokes over nearest competitor and SGA Junior Squad teammate Jillian Kuk.
